Onboarding

How to use this starter kit

The starter kit is designed as a 30-day onboarding system, not a reading list. Each week has a focus, a deliverable, and a checkpoint. By the end of 30 days, you will have built a small but useful AI workflow you can repeat and improve.

Week 1: Build the habit. Learn how to write clear prompts, run simple tasks, and review output quality.

Week 2: Pick your tools. Compare a shortlist of AI tools against your actual workflows and choose one or two to test.

Week 3: Create a reusable workflow. Turn a repeated task into a documented process with prompts, inputs, and review gates.

Week 4: Measure and share. Track time saved, output quality, and lessons learned. Share the workflow with a teammate.

30-day checklist

Your first 30 days with AI

Work through one item per day. The checklist is cumulative: each day builds on the previous one so you develop both skill and judgment.

Days 1–5: Prompt foundations. Read the prompt engineering checklist. Write five prompts using role, context, examples, constraints, and output format. Review each output and note what changed when you added more context.

Days 6–10: Tool exploration. Try three AI tools from the recommended first tools list. Run the same task in each and compare speed, quality, and cost.

Days 11–15: Workflow mapping. Pick one task you do at least three times per week. Document the inputs, steps, and ideal output. Draft a prompt or tool sequence to automate it.

Days 16–20: Review and safety. Add a human review gate. Test failure modes. Decide what the AI is allowed to do alone and what needs approval.

Days 21–25: Integration. Connect the workflow to your existing stack. Save prompts, templates, and outputs where your team can find them.

Days 26–30: Measurement. Track time saved, error rate, and user satisfaction. Write a one-page summary and decide what to scale next.

Recommended first tools

Start with tools that match your role

You do not need every AI tool on the market. Start with one general assistant and one role-specific tool. Master them before adding more.

Everyone

General AI assistant

Use ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or DeepSeek for writing, analysis, coding help, and learning. Pick the one whose interface and pricing fit your workflow.

Founders

Automation and research tools

Use a tool like Notion AI, Perplexity, or a no-code automation platform to research, plan, and document decisions faster.

Developers

Coding agent or IDE assistant

Start with GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or a similar coding assistant. Use it for drafting, reviewing, and explaining code.

Marketers

Content and SEO tools

Use AI for SEO briefs, social posts, and email drafts. Keep the human editor in the loop for brand voice and fact checking.
